Representatives in the network marketing business face challenges every day. Lots of people are afraid of network marketing because of difficulties like these:

1. Afraid of being decline – Afraid of being decline is a valid fear, but it is also the most defeating fear. This fear keeps people from achieving their dreams or reaching their true potential. It is so devastating that some don’t even get started in this business! Even if someone has the dream of achieving freedom from their job, they refuse to join the network marketing opportunity because their dreams are stifled by this sentence; "I am not interested". A lot of MLM members also lack self-confidence. They are not clear about what their motivation is when they approach others about their network marketing opportunity. That is why they fail to succeed.

2. The fear of losing their buddies – Network marketing businesses teach representatives how to work with their warm market. But it is the fear of losing friends that keeps network marketing representatives holding back. It’s a very common tendency to get a guilty complex. But we are supposed to share good things with our friends, such as a good movie or a great restaurant. We already do this naturally because there are no strings attached. However, when you throw in an incentive or return, the dynamics change. People who try to ’sell’ to their friends do it in the wrong way. You must have a very clear understanding when you share with your friends about your network marketing business. Do you truly want to help your friends out with your successful business or your excellent product, or are you just using them for profit?

3. Fake companies – Sometimes, it is hard to point out a scam business. Some of the products and services out there seem like wonderful ideas at the moment. But in a couple of years, things have changed. You have to be very careful when it comes to figuring out which are scams. Check out the background of those in the management team. Figure out whether entry level representative positions will help you create a return on your investment. Don’t be scammed into purchasing a lot of products to start off. Make sure your uplines are in it for the long haul. Are they going to help you succeed, or are they going to use you for their own profit?

4. Inability to create new representatives – Some representatives in network marketing are great at building their own network. But there’s one issue: they don’t create representatives that are just like themselves. Network marketing is a system for an entire network, not just one representative. Everyone works as a team towards a common goal. But not all the people in your down line have the same strong motivation, charisma, and experience. You have to invest the time to teach your down line how to succeed in your network marketing business. If you don’t, you’re going to lose your representatives after months of investment, and have to start to build your team again.

Network marketing is filled with challenges and these challenges are people’s fears. Most people struggle with the fear of rejecting, losing friends, network marketing scams and an inability to duplicate.

Once of the most challenging aspects of being a network marketing rep is dealing with peoples fears. The most common fears in network marketing are:

– Rejection

The fear of rejection is an enormous challenge because it not only stops people achieving their dreams it also prevents them ever getting started. So many people’s dreams are destroyed before they’ve even began because they lack the confidence to push through the word, ‘No’, and rise above their fears. This isn’t helped by the fact that some network marketing reps aren’t able to clearly explain and demonstrate the way to push through these fears.

– Losing Friends

Because network marketing teaches people that the best way to start is to begin with the people you know, for example your friends and family, many are put off by the idea that they will lose their friends if they do this. They are worried they will be perceived as pushy or false. At first it is easy to understand this fear. We naturally want to share our experiences and joys with our friends and family. If we find out about a great place to visit or a great product, what could be more natural than to tell others? Problems begin when this natural process becomes mixed up with the process of making a profit or having an incentive. The answer is merely to be completely genuine. If your motivation is clear – that you simply want to share with them your good fortune and help them to reap the benefits they will not reject you and will, however, be grateful. You must examine your own motivations – do you really want to share and help or are you trying to exploit?

- MLM Scams

Even the most wary professional can find it hard to spot network marketing scams. Some products and trends can seem so promising at a point in time but after a number of years lose their attractiveness. This is where doing your research comes in and being careful to check out the management team and their track record. You must be clear if the entry level requirements will give you a good return on your investment – don’t be forced into front-loading unnecessarily. Always make sure you do your homework. Are your uplines there to support you or are they just trying to make a quick buck?

- Duplication Problems

To succeed in network marketing one needs to be able to duplicate oneself – like making a clone in some ways. If you fail to help other people to be just like you, and to be as successful as you, your downline will never reap rewards. People are all very different. We all have strengths and weaknesses. It is unrealistic to expect everyone to be the same and the secret is to be patient and play to people’s strengths. Not everyone has the same motivation but we all have motivation. Finding out what it is and building on that helps with duplication. We don’t all have the same personalities but everyone has a personality that can be developed. This is where being a great teacher comes in. Just make sure that everyone in your downline experiences the success they want. Otherwise your efforts will be for nothing when they leave and you have to start over with someone else.
