They know that they need to lay the foundation early on to become a leader in this field. They know that if you move up the ranks, you will be listened to more by your upline, respected more by your downline, and prospects will want to work under you.

Here are some guidelines for educating yourself for leadership in your business:

- If you think that you’ve made it already, then you are not even close.

Growing in leadership is a constant process that never stops. Just like technology changes constantly in our world, you have to stay up to date to stay on top of things. People who don’t do anything are actually lagging behind. If you think that you’ve achieved the top already in your upline, or you have a large enough downline already, then you are already starting to lag behind. A true leader is a person who constantly strives for more.

- A leader inspires and empowers others

How should you best help people succeed in network marketing? Help out others through helping your downline FIRST. Don’t get caught up in selling all of your products yourself in order to bring in a big commission check. Empower and inspire your downline team to sell more, and you will bring in more revenue with less effort!

- The leader is not hogging the spotlight

Don’t be stingy and keep the spotlight on you and you alone. You make think that it’s great to have all of the glory because you have the biggest downline or the highest rank in your jurisdiction. But that’s not how it works: nothing is more satisfying than sharing the glory with your downline and helping them get to the same heights. Take the time to educate yourself and support them as they grow. Even if they make it to a higher ranking than you, you still receive income off of their successes!

- A leader is always reading for education

Don’t assume that educational and self-help books are for the weak-minded or that they are a waste of your time. You have to feed your brain, just like you have to feed your body. If you keep your mind full of the right stuff, you will be blocking out the negative influences keeping you from the success you deserve. Once you start living a life that your books talk about, people will listen and people will notice.

Keep in mind that all leaders are still human! You are not going to see results right away. But don’t punish yourself if you get frustrated. Remember that it takes time for a leader to be formed, and that everyone makes mistakes. Follow these rules, and you will see your patience pay off.

This mindset will not help you become a leader within your company. True leaders are those who keep on learning and improving themselves, and can inspire others to do the same.

The best way to succeed in network marketing is to help others succeed first. You mustn’t try to retail too many products yourself because the commission checks are bigger, you must learn to empower your network to retail more and more products and you then you will have the volume you require with less effort on your own behalf. You will also have a happy, successful downline – a quality necessary in a leader.

Don’t be a ‘one man show’. There are those in network marketing who want to prove themselves the best by building the biggest team or the best rank, but this is not a quality MLM companies look for in a leader. You should get more pleasure from seeing your downlines succeed than seeing yourself succeed. You will get the respect you crave and be earning your residual income at the same time. Fame and speaking on the biggest stage isn’t all that network marketing is about. Security and success are more important.

Do you think motivational books are a waste of time? They aren’t if you want to be a good leader. If you read them every day you will be helping to shield yourself from all the negative thinking that is prevalent today. And this is something we all need to do. Once you start thinking and living like a motivational book you will notice huge changes in your life and achieve success without even realizing it.

Leaders are human beings and are the same as the rest of us. There is nothing to stop you striving for this, knowing that even though you may not see tremendous results as a leader you must not feel you are not growing. It takes time to grow to this stage in your MLM career a leader you must be patient with the process and develop the qualities to make it a success.
