Network marketing has often been labeled a dubious industry, or worse, a scam. It is not the nature of the industry that makes this so. It is merely the fault of the people running some network marketing organizations - and the misconceptions of those who don’t understand how MLM really works. Remember the true saying - guns don’t kill people, only people kill people.

One of the reasons why some people in network marketing give the industry such a bad name is that they don’t focus on giving value. Instead, they focus on making money, to such an extent they will damage others while they make their money, without a thought for the consequences. They even take their cash or sign up people at the maximum entry level - known as front-loading - without ever having the intention of helping these people succeed in the business. It is no wonder that people who have been stung in this way are disillusioned. It is about time professionals in network marketing focused more on helping others to succeed and less on lining their own pockets.

Remember the rule: People don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care. If you really want to build a long term business success in network marketing you must be willing to work out a system of duplication for your downlines to follow. Telling your downlines to make 50 cold-calls to complete strangers every day is not a proper system. Did you do this yourself? Even if you did, those who are terrified of calling strangers will not be able to duplicate your efforts. They will need a system that works for them. Remember, they need to work like you but they are not you.

Every single one of your downlines should be treated like business partners - with the upline acting as a mentor and supporter. We all have roles to play and we work best when we are comfortable in these roles and happy. Never force people to play roles that they are not suitable for or comfortable with.

If you plan to set up a network marketing system you must be willing to test, test and re-test every one of your strategies until they become workable for everyone who uses them. You won’t know which techniques suit you and your downlines until you try them on yourself.

If you analyze the strengths of each of your partners it will be easier to find techniques that bring in the best results - and they will be grateful and happy that they are not expected to do things they feel uncomfortable with. There are partners who dislike talking to people face to face, who are shy or disinclined, but they might do really well when it comes to marketing online.

Then there are others who love to be in the limelight. Give all your downlines opportunities to share their experiences with one another - always try to motivate others to become the best that they were born to be, not to become like someone else.

Once you’ve found the best ways to train your downline to get great results, you must not stop there - you must focus on refining your systems. Constantly refine and improve - update your website, give training calls and materials to assist your partners. Don’t be loath to spend some money on training because you are doing it for the long term and it will pay dividends.

Last but not least, remember this - There is no I in TEAM. TEAM also stands for Together Everyone Achieves More. When you are a true TEAM member you will reap the rewards time and time again.
